The current project aims to advance knowledge about and use potential of natural ventilation in residential and commercial buildings with regard to multivariable set of relevant indoor-outdoor environmental quality factors and long-term energy saving potential.

The specific project objectives include:

1) To quantify current utilization and the maximum use potential for natural ventilation.

2) To examine the role of human behaviour in altering the performance of natural ventilation.

3) To propose the sensing strategy based on sensitivity analysis that will take into account optimal sensor type, location and user preference.

4) To quantify improvements in indoor environmental quality and acquired energy savings associated with optimized control of natural ventilation.
